A message from Irene:

Hello, my name is Irene. I am privileged to be part of the team here at FHGCH. I have the awesome privilege to be working at Watoro Childcare Ministries as a manager in the babies Home located in Gulu District (one of the districts in Northern Uganda) and have served through different roles of Youth Pastor, coordinating sponsors, Social Worker and currently manager for over 17 years. Over years, I have seen more than 1000 babies grow, transition to the Watoto children’s villages and become leaders at different capacities of teachers, doctors, nurses, social workers. After serving for all these years, it has enabled me to grow both in my spiritual life and leadership skills.

I currently have 7 children of my own, 4 biological and 3 of which are adopted. I have a Master’s Degree in Project Management, my interest to pursue this study was as a result of seeing very many vulnerable children in Northern Uganda suffer as a result of maternal death. others being abandoned. Children heading families and caring for their siblings which really beat my heart. I thought through this one day that I would start something of my own to enable these innocent vulnerable souls to have an identity.

In the month of October 2023, our father Larry visited my home district and visited the Watoto Babies Home and asked to meet with me after several attempts to reach me which was almost failing but thanks be to the awesome God who did it 2000 years ago, did it for Larry, and we finally met. I remember Larry in our conversation asked me talk about myself which I did and that was the beginning of my journey with FHGCH. Early this year in the month of February, Larry gave me a call and requested me to visit Abim and see what I would do to support his vision of giving love, light and hope to the hopeless and disadvantaged children in the children’s home alongside the team that was already there.

I visited the Children’s Home and my heart beat (overwhelmed) with the beautiful smiles of these adorable children who needed love and someone caring for them, My expectations for FHGCH are really high, I would like to see many more vulnerable children rescued, groomed, loved, see light and have hope for tomorrow at different capacities since they are the future generation. I’m so grateful to FHGCH for giving me a chance to serve and be a part of their vision of giving love, light and hope into raising great future leaders with the love of Christ. And I’m thankful to Papa Larry, the board, friends and sponsors of FHGM for your faithful support that allows us to continue to care for the children who need us most.
